“Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”
(John 3:5 NIV)
John chapter 3 describes the encounter that Nicodemus had with Jesus.
There we see Jesus explaining gracefully the need of a new birth in the life of someone that really wants to meet God and experience his kingdom.
As pastors, we can’t behave as if our kids don’t need that experience. Nobody is born a son of God because they were born in a christian family or because their parents are pastors.
Every human being, including our children has been born with a fallen nature and apart from God, spiritually dead.
Kids might obey, join us to the meetings, but there comes the moment when they must have their own encounter with God.
“He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.”
(James 1:18 NIV)
Each one of our children must be born again and as Jesus said to Nicodemus, this experience is something that we can’t control or make happen, like the wind that goes wherever it wants, one day the Holy Spirit will come over our children and will transform their lives with one word from God.
What we can control, and it's in our power, is to have a high level of prayer and fast for our children.
John 16:8 says that our greatest help, the Holy Spirit is the one who will convince our children to come back to God, that’s why we must grow a close friendship with him, so that he guides us to pray for them and gives us discernment to detect anything out of order in their lives.
The Holy Spirit is our greatest ally to bring life to our children so they are born again.
“When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment”
(John 16:8 NIV)
