How was sending lived during the ministry of our Lord Jesus?

The Lord Jesus had the custom of sending groups of disciples to the cities that he was going to visit in order to prepare the way. This preparation consisted of preaching, healings and deliverances.

He started by sending his team of 12, but later He also sent a group of 70 disciples and gave them almost the same instructions.

When the Lord sent His disciples out to preach, He not only gave them specific instructions, but He also gave them power and authority to execute them. Regardless of the disciples' personalities, abilities and talents, Jesus gave them everything they needed to fulfill their mission.

When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

After this the Lord appointed seventy others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.

(Luke 10:1)

In His last days on earth, the ministry of Jesus was characterized by sending large numbers of disciples to do the same thing that they had seen Jesus do: healing, delivering and preaching. Jesus was never an obstacle to His disciples, but He rather encouraged them to serve God and be useful instruments in God’s hands. After sending them He waited for them to hear their experiences. The disciples returned full of joy and had impressive stories.
