What are the 10 commandments of a cell group?
The 10 commandments of the cell group are:
1. Love the cell group system: If the leader does not love his cell group, if he is not in love with what God does through it, his work will become something mechanical. But when he truly loves the cell group, he is willing to give up to whatever is necessary, so that the cell group experiences life and growth.
2. Do not deviate from the cell group system: The members of a cell group must go through the Life Class and Destiny Training process, in the time established for each course.
When a cell group has deviated from the Vision, it becomes stagnated and this can lead to the spiritual cooling down of its assistants and even its leader.
3. Do not allow the cell group to be fruitless: The cell group is a living organism and therefore it must bear fruit.
The cell group that bears fruit is carrying out the task of winning and involves people in a training process.
“He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit.”
(John 15:2)
The cell group that bears more fruit is a cell group where the vast majority of the people are being trained to exercise leadership.
“While every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”
(John 15:2)
The cell group that bears a lot of fruit is the one where there are already good candidates to form the team of twelve.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
(John 15:5)
4. Work with the cell group on a spiritual level: The cell group leader must move away from the superficial and go out to see the spiritual condition of the cell group.
You must never forget that everything you want to see in the physical must first be conquered in the spiritual.
This requires a deeper work of fasting, prayer and spiritual warfare applying the seven blood sheddings of Jesus.
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
(Ephesians 6:18)
5. Have permanent contact with the members of the cell group: A cell group that takes place every week, on the same day and at the same time, gives the attendees strength and confidence, because they know that they have a specific moment to receive spiritual food.
On the contrary, when the hours or the place where the cell group is held are continually changed, it generates insecurity and instability in its assistants and the contact with them can be lost.
“Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds.”
(Proverbs 27:23)
6. Make each member a leader: God had a specific purpose with Abraham and it was to make him an instrument of blessing for all mankind, regardless of his age and condition.
God has outlined a specific purpose for each person who attends the cell group and He has placed within them a tremendous potential that can lead them to become great servants of God, winning souls and leading cell groups.
If the leader succeeds in turning every member of his cell group into a leader, his work will come to completely change his ministry, his church, his city, and even his nation.
“As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations. No longer will you be called Abram[a]; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you.”
(Genesis 17:4-6)
7. Watch over the holiness of the group: The cell group leader must be radical with sin, both in his life and in that of the members of his cell group.
He cannot allow small indiscretions, because little foxes spoil the vines.
The leader should be able to restore those people who fall into sin.
Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards, our vineyards that are in bloom.
(Song of Songs 2:15)
8. Do not work on someone else's foundation: The goal of the leader should be to generate legitimate children in his cell group and not to attract leaders from another ministry or church. This can bring him to fall into the error of thinking that the cell group will grow faster by bringing an apparently formed leader.
9. Do not allow complaining: In the Bible there are serious warnings and examples of the harm that gossip and complaining can cause.
The leader must never allow his cell group member to speak negatively about the pastor, the church, the leaders or any other person. The objective of a cell group is to edify and train the assistants in the Word of God.
“And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel.”
(1 Corinthians 10:10)
10. Set and achieve goals: Having defined goals is like putting the rails of faith and building a path, not to help God, but to help ourselves. Through these goals we evaluate our work, because all work should be fruitful.
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 3:13-14)
