What does vision mean?

God is the greatest visionary in history. Everything that exists is a product of his vision, including men and women. Every human being was created by God with a clear purpose:

“Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness”
(Genesis 1:26, NIV)

Likeness refers to what is on the inside, this means God reproduced his character in us, giving us the ability of dreaming and having vision. Therefore, the Lord  is waiting for every one of us to fight until we get vision because, once we make it, we start living accordingly with his purpose for our lives and reflecting his glory.

Vision is a God’s idea revealed to humans’  hearts so they may cause it to come to fruition.

Do you really get what this means? God wants to reveal his plans to your heart, so that you start working on them. What a privilege for any believer.

I would like you to memorize this definition and to reflect on these two aspects:

1. The right vision is God 's idea: This means that the right vision is not the product of human emotions or desires, but it comes only by a revelation of the Holy Spirit.

2. Vision requires action: The reason why God reveals his plan to us, is not for us just to contemplate them, but for us to work hard on causing them to come to fruition.

We could also add that vision is about having a clear image of what God wants us to do. Like during a construction process that requires clear plans and drawings that must be followed in order to build correctly, having vision is faithfully reproducing God’s plan knowing that he is the architect.
