How does the bible describe a leader?

How does the bible describe a leader?

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.

(2 Timoteo 2:2) NVI

1. Influence:  “And the things you have heard me say.”
This talks about fruit. Nobody can be a leader without having disciples. Leadership is not about intentions, leadership is about the amount of people we get inspired to follow Jesus.

2. Reproduction: “ qualified to teach others.”
Real leadership is not simply inspiring others, but teaching them how to be an inspiration. Our goal is to teach everyone of our disciples how to reproduce.

3. Integrity: “…  in the presence of many witnesses”.

Remember a real leader inspires by their example, that's why integrity is so essential to leadership. Paul reminds Timothy every moment in which he was with him and got the chance of watching Paul's testimony.  Timothy was close enough to Paul to see many aspects of his life and never had a complaint about his leader.

Paul told Timothy:

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

(2 Timothy 2:15) NIV

4. Faithfulness: “entrust to reliable people”
A leader has to share the right message. A Christian leader does not have its own vision, because has been called to spread Jesus' vision.
